Driver arrested for sexual assault after May incident in Ithaca

ITHACA, NY — A Syracuse Uber driver was arrested last week after Ithaca police accused him of assaulting a passenger in Ithaca last month.

Salah-Eddeen M. Mikki, 33, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and arraigned in Ithaca Municipal Court, according to Ithaca Police Lt. Thomas DuPay.

Mikki allegedly picked up a passenger in Ithaca on May 24, drove to a nearby location, parked, and then attacked the passenger in the back seat.

“The driver got into the back seat of the vehicle, pushed the victim down and began to violently touch him,” DuPay said. “The victim escaped from the vehicle, ran away and called for help.”

DuPay said Ithaca police are looking for anyone else with information or who has had similar experiences.
