1 person died Monday afternoon when a car was struck by a train in southern Indiana | News from WDRB

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WDRB) — One person was killed Monday when a car was struck by a train in Memphis, Indiana.

According to a Facebook post from Tri-Township Fire & Rescue, emergency crews were dispatched to the area of ​​Village Lane and North US Route 31 in Memphis, near Interstate 65, around 3 p.m. for a reported accident involving a car and a train.

According to the post, emergency responders arrived within five minutes and found a person “unconscious and unresponsive on the ground.” The person was treated and taken to UofL Hospital.

Deputy Chief Mark Grube of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said the person died but did not provide further information until the victim’s family is notified.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
