director Hansal Mehta and his son, Jai Mehta, both expressed their disappointment on X (formerly Twitter) about the behaviour of South star Nagarjuna Bodyguard who pushed a fan at Mumbai airport. Jai said that the incident was particularly distressing for him as it reminded him of his own brother Pallava, who has Down syndrome. Hansal Mehta added to Jai’s post and admitted that Pallava could never meet his favourite star despite multiple requests.

In his post, Jai speculated that the fan might be “particularly gifted” and recalled seeing the same gentleman before at an airport outlet. Jai criticised the behaviour of Nagarjuna’s bodyguard and stressed that celebrities, politicians and sportspeople need to be more considerate and less self-centred. He wrote, “Security guards should be trained to control a crowd better and more respectfully. Celebrities/politicians/sportspeople need to start being a little less self-centred and a little more generous.”

Jai also pointed out that Nagarjuna did not even look at the person his bodyguard pushed aside. “But I hate that he did not even bother to look at the person who bumped into him and did not even bother to turn around to look at the person who was pushed away from him by his security guard,” he wrote.

He added that his brother Pallava is a huge fan of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, but he does not take him to film screenings and public events to avoid similar incidents. Jai mentioned that Pallava often received “weird looks” from so-called “bright people”.

Hansal Mehta supported Jai’s tweet and shared his own experience of trying in vain to arrange a meeting between Pallava and his favourite star. He wrote, “True story. So my son Pallava is a fan of this big star. I have told him through his brother and close friends several times that meeting the star would mean the world to him. And that it would be my gift to my son. When his eyes were operated on, this star was the first person he recognised in the newspaper. But no. There was no response from the star or his friends. I gave up. Now Pallu’s cognitive abilities have deteriorated over the years. And this will not matter even if it has to happen,” he wrote.

After the video went viral on social media, Nagarjuna apologized to X and promised that such incidents would not happen again. He wrote, “I just realized this… this should not have happened!! I apologize to the gentleman 🙏 and will take necessary precautions to ensure that this does not happen again in future!!”
