4th of July activities at Canalside include a tour of a tall ship

A tour from a tall ship July 6-7 will be a highlight of Independence Day weekend activities at Canalside, the Buffalo Waterfront Management Group announced.

New York’s Lettie G. Howard, the last surviving example of a Georges Bank fishing schooner, will be open for free tours from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Private sails are also available. The ship was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989.

The weekend will also feature a series of interactive exhibits as part of the I Love NY activation experience, lacrosse and storytelling workshops, and a patriotic sand sculpture by Eric Jones.

July 7 will see the rescheduled Fit Fest, sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, featuring fitness classes, giveaways and healthy snacks. For more information, visit buffalowaterfront.com.
