Video shows dog handler with dog and triggers investigation

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — Fayetteville Police are investigating after people raised concerns about the treatment of one of their police dogs.

Someone took a video of part of the interaction between a police dog handler and the dog and shared it with us.

CBS 17 was told this happened on Sunday in the parking lot of a Walgreens store on Owen Drive.

Fayetteville police have not identified the officer involved.

Fayetteville police issued a statement about the incident around 1 p.m. Monday.

They say the internal department is investigating the incident and taking all concerns seriously.
