Person killed in collision with train, trains delayed at Union Station

An Amtrak driver reported hitting a person in the 2200 block of Adams Place in Northeast around 6:30 p.m.

WASHINGTON – One person was killed after being struck by a train in northeast DC on Monday evening.

According to DC Fire and EMS, an Amtrak driver reported hitting a person in the 2200 block of Adams Place, Northeast, around 6:30 p.m. The victim was later found in the 2000 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast, about 1,000 feet away.

Amtrak said Monday evening that trains entering and leaving the station and BWI Marshall Airport were experiencing delays due to the fatal collision, as investigators requested a halt to all train service in the area for the duration of the investigation.

It is unclear when operations will return to normal. Passengers must expect significant delays.

No information has been released about the person who was struck and killed or the circumstances leading to the collision.
