Mets player Edwin Díaz suspended for 10 games and fined after being caught using foreign substances

Ahh… the incredible Mets! (LMAO)

New York Mets starting pitcher Edwin Diaz has been given a 10-game suspension and an unspecified fine by MLB after violating its foreign substance policy, the league announced Monday. The suspension, issued by Michael Hill, MLB’s senior vice president of on-field operations, takes effect Tuesday when the Mets host the New York Yankees at Citi Field. However, he could appeal the league’s decision. If he does, to MLB special assistant John McHale Jr., his suspension would be deferred until the disciplinary process is complete.

Before Diaz took the mound in the ninth inning of New York’s 5-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball,” he was ejected from the game by crew chief Vic Carapazza after finding a sticky foreign object on Diaz’s hand.
