BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) said in an email that the emergency call was received at 3:27 p.m. “Two ambulances with paramedics arrived at the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical care to two patients and transported them to hospital in stable condition,” paramedic spokesperson Brian Twaites said in the email.

Power has been restored to much of Roberts Creek, but 832 customers are still without power, according to BC Hydro’s outage map.

Due to a car accident, Highway 101 is closed in both directions in Roberts Creek on Monday afternoon.

A vehicle struck a power pole and live wires are lying across the highway at Rat Portage in Roberts Creek. Sgt. Don Newman with Sunshine Coast RCMP told Coastal Reporter at 15:40

“The road has to be closed because of the power lines,” Newman said. “And the power lines are coming as soon as possible, so unfortunately the road will remain closed until the lines are down.”

On Facebook, the RCMP said it was a single-vehicle accident and warned of significant delays as there was no way around the accident scene.

BC Hydro’s outage map shows a power outage from Davis Bay to Elphinstone, affecting 2,600 customers.
