Nick Carter claims sexual assault allegations were “staged.”

Nick Carter maintains his innocence after several women accused him of sexual assault.

According to court documents obtained by Us weeklyCarter filed a motion for summary judgment against it on Tuesday, May 7 Shannon Ruth, who previously filed a lawsuit against the singer, claiming he raped her when she was 17. In the filing, Carter’s legal team claimed Ruth was “desperate for her two minutes of fame.”

“Ruth’s goal was simple: to gain as much attention as possible in the hope that Carter would be canceled. For a brief moment it worked,” the filing says. “ABC has canceled the Backstreet Boys Christmas special, A vacation in the backyard, and Carter had to fight for his innocence and his family. Now, over a year later, Carter has received all the evidence necessary to prove he was telling the truth all along – he did not rape Ruth or anyone else.”

Carter’s lawyers claimed that Ruth and other women accused him of sexual assault Melissa Schuman and the plaintiff, identified as AR, “orchestrated” the allegations as part of a “plot to gain fame and extort money from Carter.” Carter and his team also accused Ruth of fabricating her statement, claiming it was a “factual impossibility.”

In December 2022, Ruth sued Carter for sexual harassment, accusing him of assaulting her after a Backstreet Boys concert in 2001. Ruth claimed the musician invited her to accompany him on his tour bus while she waited in line for an autograph after the show, according to documents obtained by Us. She claimed Carter exposed himself to her and made her perform oral sex on him “forcibly.”

Carter vehemently denied the allegations. “This claim about an incident that allegedly occurred more than 20 years ago is not only legally baseless, but also completely untrue,” the musician’s representative told Us in a statement in December 2022. “Unfortunately, this has been the case with Ms. Ruth for several years.” have been manipulated to make false allegations about Nick – and these allegations have changed repeatedly and significantly over time. No one should be fooled by a press stunt orchestrated by an opportunistic lawyer – there is absolutely no truth to this claim and we have no doubt the courts will quickly recognize this.”

At a hearing in Las Vegas in March 2023, a judge ruled that Carter could file a countersuit against Ruth after claiming she falsely accused him of an extortion attempt.

Ruth isn’t the only person to accuse Carter of sexual assault. Last year, Schuman, who was a singer with the girl group Dream, also sued Carter for sexual assault and assault. In the lawsuit, Melissa alleged that Carter allegedly performed oral sex on her and, despite her protests, made her do the same to him before raping her.

While Melissa filed the lawsuit in 2023, she first made the allegations in a 2017 blog post and filed a police report the following year. Carter’s lawyer, Liane K. WakayamaHe rejected Schuman’s allegations in a statement Us.
