How to Apply for the Atlanta Recovery Fund After a Broken Water Main

ATLANTA — Applications are now open for businesses impacted by water main breaks in Atlanta in May to apply for a grant to receive funds.

Eligible small businesses can now apply to the City of Atlanta Recovery Fund, which opened at 8 a.m. Monday. The fund provides grants to small businesses and their employees affected by Atlanta’s water main breaks, which closed some businesses for several days.

11Alive spoke with Invest Atlanta about the application process and what business owners need to know.

Here’s a look at everything businesses should know about the fund:

“All businesses within the boil advisory map area,” said Invest Atlanta President and CEO Dr. Eloisa Klementich. “As long as you belong to either of these cards, you qualify.”

Invest Atlanta said it was prioritizing businesses most directly affected, like daycares, salons and restaurants.

Invest Atlanta said eligible businesses can apply for grants of up to $10,000.

“You will fall into a certain category based on your income and then the number of days you were closed and impacted,” Klementich said. “Some businesses were closed for one day, two days, but they were impacted for longer.”

Klementich added that business owners can also request $200 for each affected employee.

“Your name, your address, your articles of incorporation, a copy of your business license, an impact statement,” Klementich added. “Tell us why or how you got hit in case it’s not easy for us to see.”

Klementich said technical assistance providers were ready to help. There are also virtual webinars and in-person meetings.

The deadline to apply is Monday July 8, 2024, at 5 p.m.

Invest Atlanta said business owners will begin receiving notifications through the Neighborly app system the week of July 29, 2024.
