Two teenagers were arrested in the city centre this weekend

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are urging parents to know where their children are after several children were arrested downtown over the weekend.

“When it comes to young people, it’s disturbing,” said IMPD Deputy Chief Tanya Terry.

“I would ask parents and guardians to be curious about what their young people are doing,” added IMPD Deputy Chief Terry.

According to IMPD, there were numerous disturbances and fights south of the county, where large groups of adults and juveniles had gathered. Police said one adult was arrested for assault and disturbing the peace.

According to IMPD, the youths arrested over the weekend did not violate the state’s curfew for youth.

“They all came barging in, pushing her and us and just walked in,” said a KOKO Tea employee.

Photos show the aftermath of what two employees described to WRTV on Monday. They said it started with a fight outside the store before the teens burst through the door.

“We are only three people – there were about 30 to 40 people. We didn’t know what they were going to do,” the employee added.

The IMPD urges businesses to contact the department if they have problems with young people in the downtown area and the surrounding area.
