Barnwell woman arrested for stealing from nursing home resident

BARNWELL, SC (WJBF) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that a Barnwell woman was arrested for exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

Phyllis J. Daniels, 36, of Barnwell, South Carolina, was charged with exploitation of a vulnerable person and card fraud. She was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center on Monday, June 24.

In a joint investigation with the Attorney General’s Vulnerable Adult and Medicaid Provider Fraud Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, they uncovered that “Daniels unlawfully and without authorization used the funds and assets of a vulnerable adult.” It is alleged that between December 2021 and January 2022, Daniels obtained the victim’s debit card to use the funds without permission.
