Warroad man sentenced to probation for sexually assaulting sleeping woman in Grand Forks Airbnb – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS – A Warroad, Minnesota man pleaded guilty Monday, June 24, to aggravated sexual assault (Class A) for performing a sexual act on an unsuspecting victim and will serve 360 ​​days of unsupervised probation.

Benjamine Joseph Forbes, 31, was sentenced to 360 days in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, with the 360 ​​days suspended. Because the sentence is a misdemeanor, his felony charge was reclassified as a misdemeanor after sentencing.

In August 2023, Forbes was staying at an Airbnb in Grand Forks with three other people, according to an affidavit in the case. He slept in a bed with two women and touched one of their genitals while they slept, the affidavit states.

Forbes must undergo a drug and sexual behavior evaluation and complete any recommended treatments. He is prohibited from having any contact with the victim.
