Man arrested after allegedly running over person at Jackson liquor store

An arrest was made after surveillance video showed a delivery truck intentionally running over and killing a person outside a liquor store in Jackson.

Officers responded to Liquor Connection, just off Interstate 55, on Monday after the incident occurred at about 6:35 a.m. According to video obtained by Darkhorse Press, a white pickup truck traveling the wrong way on West Frontage Road turned into the store’s parking lot. Footage then showed it stopping at the entrance to the parking lot near the pedestrian. Within seconds, the driver of the truck accelerated and struck the person as she entered the parking lot.

Jackson police released additional information Monday afternoon. A man named Jamarl Chambliss, 35, was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with murder. The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
