Construction worker killed in accident in Naperville

A construction worker was killed in a traffic accident in a suburb of Naperville on Monday morning.

The 55-year-old man was working near Naper Boulevard and Heatherfield Circle when he was struck by a 74-year-old woman in a Kia Sportage around 10 a.m., Naperville police said.

Officers and paramedics performed CPR before taking the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man, who lives in Addison, was hired as a subcontractor to work on a city project in Naperville.

“First and foremost, our sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” said Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger. “The safety of our employees and contractors is our top priority and our focus now is to support our employees and police personnel as they thoroughly investigate this tragedy.”
