Nine dead in traffic accident in northwest China – Xinhua

YINCHUAN, May 9 (Xinhua) — A traffic accident in northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region killed nine people on Thursday morning, local authorities said.

The accident occurred around 7:40 a.m. on a stretch of the national highway in Qingtongxia city, where a truck collided with a car, leaving nine dead and two injured.

The injured were taken to a local hospital and their injuries were not life-threatening, according to the regional public safety department.

The cause of the accident is being investigated. ■
