Sun worshiper defends herself against man who tries to sexually harass her in Central Park

A woman sunbathing in Central Park fought back Monday against a man who tried to sexually assault her, police said.

The 22-year-old woman was sunning herself on the lawn near W. 104th St. and West Drive when she was approached by a man shortly after 1:25 p.m., police said.

The man grabbed the victim from behind and pushed himself on her, but she resisted.

The woman then screamed for help and frightened the man, who then ran away. She was not physically injured in the attack.

The madman was last seen wearing a green shirt and is believed to be in his thirties, police said.

Police are checking nearby surveillance cameras in the hope of tracking him down.

There were no immediate arrests.
