The Biden administration has promoted an official who has a history of posting sexually explicit photos on social media and inflammatory tweets against police, Republicans, Israel and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Tyler Cherry was promoted to deputy White House communications director last week after serving in a similar role at the U.S. Department of the Interior with Secretary Deb Haaland for three years, Politico reports.

According to unearthed tweets Cherry posted over the past decade, he has spread anti-Israel sentiments, attacked Republicans and compared police to “slave patrols.”

“I pray for #Baltimore, but I pray even more fervently for an end to a capitalist police state motivated by explicit and implicit racial prejudice,” he tweeted in 2015 after the death of Freddie Gray.

In another tweet that same year, Cherry wrote that he prayed even more fervently for an end to a capitalist police state motivated by explicit and implicit racial prejudice.

In 2015, Cherry also described law enforcement as “a direct evolution of slave patrols and lynch mobs.”

In 2014, he tweeted in support of the Palestinians: “Cheering in bars for the end of the occupation of Palestine – no shame and screw your looks #ISupportGaza #FreePalestine.”

In 2018, he simply tweeted: “Abolish ICE.”

Another tweet claimed that Republicans cared too much about “white grievance politics.”

There are also photos on Instagram showing Cherry in feminine clothing, including one photo in which he wears a mesh shirt decorated with rose petals that reveals his bare chest.

Cherry distanced himself from his previous views on Sunday after they were widely criticized. As Libs of TikTok noted, he has also deleted thousands of his tweets since then.

“Previous social media posts from my youth do not reflect my current views. Period,” he tweeted on Sunday. “I support this government’s agenda – and will continue my communications work with a focus on our climate and environmental policies.”

The White House defended Cherry in light of the critical situation and told Fox News Digital that they were “very proud to have Tyler on the team.”
