FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAY: STRONG STORMS TONIGHT

The rest of Monday afternoon promises to be pretty good. Highs will be just above 27 degrees inland, and a cooler 21 and 15 degrees closer to Lake Michigan. Although clouds will increase, it should stay dry through tonight.

Tonight is a FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAY! A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is likely to move across our area between midnight and sunrise. These storms can bring damaging straight-line winds, downpours, hail, and frequent lightning.

A quick rain of 1 to 3 inches can cause flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Strong winds or lightning can cause power outages into the early hours. The storms should end around Tuesday morning. Charge your devices before you go to bed and get alerts at night if severe weather approaches your location.

Meanwhile, your Tuesday looks like it will be a partly cloudy, somewhat windy, warm and wetter day. Highs will climb to the 30s to 40s. While a storm is possible late in the day with a passing cold front, the higher risk for rain and storms should remain in the south.

The middle of the week will be cooler and less humid, with highs mostly above 20 degrees. Another cold front on Friday and into Friday night is expected to bring more rain and storms… and stir up the wind a bit.
