Teenagers from Ellesmere Port arrested after being filmed sexually abusing a woman

Two men from Ellesmere Port have been sentenced to prison after they were filmed sexually assaulting a woman at a house party. George Johnson and Vincenzo Montessori were both 17 years old when they assaulted the drunken victim.

Johnson, of Dunkirk Lane, Whitby, and Montessori, of Polden Close, Little Sutton, both now aged 20, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday 21 June. According to police, Johnson and Montessori took turns attacking the victim, who had no memory of the evening and was only informed of the attack by a friend the following day.

After the assault was reported to police, a video was discovered on a party guest’s phone and confiscated by police. It shows Johnson and Montessori sexually abusing the young woman. The young woman was drunk and “unable to consent to or prevent what was happening to her,” police said.

The footage also shows Johnson attempting to rape the victim. After her arrest, Montessori pleaded guilty to sexual assault.

Johnson was found guilty of sexual abuse and attempted rape after a week-long trial. Johnson was sentenced to ten years in a youth detention center, Montessori to five years in a youth detention center.

In addition to their sentence, both must register on the sex offenders register.

After the verdict, DC Joe Duckworth said: “Firstly, I would like to pay tribute to the courage shown by the victim throughout the investigation and subsequent trial. Although the video evidence appeared to speak for itself, Johnson nevertheless subjected her to an extremely traumatic process in which she had to relive the effects of this crime. I would also like to thank the jury for their fair, rational and objective approach to trying Johnson.

“They too had to look at the evidence presented during the trial and I am sure it will stay with them for a long time. Although Johnson and Montessori were only 17 years old at the time of the crime, they knew what they were doing. This is clear from their reactions, which can be seen on the video, as they committed their crimes.

“They chose to take advantage of a woman when she was unable to consent and now they must live with the consequences of their actions. This crime has resulted in two young people being convicted and a woman having to live the rest of her life with the knowledge of what happened to her.

“This is an incredibly tough case and I sincerely hope it reminds us of the importance of having meaningful conversations about consent and the impact that intoxication can have on people’s ability to consent. We also want to remind people that the victim in this case is entitled to anonymity.”
