Man arrested for attempted burglary and car theft in Maryland

SILVER SPRING, Maryland — A man is in custody in connection with an attempted burglary and car theft in Silver Spring. Samuel Robert Bajard, 30, is being held without bail for his alleged involvement.

The police are still looking for other suspects.

On June 9 at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of an attempted burglary at a residence on Castle Boulevard.

Investigators say Bajard and other unknown suspects attempted to force entry into a residence by kicking in the front door and throwing a rock through the window. Instead, the suspects were met by the person who lived there and sprayed them with bear spray. The suspects then ran out of the residence.

On the way out, the suspects attacked the driver of a Toyota Camry who had just returned home, police said. They stole the Toyota and drove away.

Investigators managed to identify Bajard as one of the suspects allegedly involved.

On June 13, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Bajard and charged him with attempted burglary and car theft.

A week later, on Thursday, Bajard was arrested in Silver Spring and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bail.
