Atlanta files for Sundance Film Festival and city provides $2 million in support

The city said its proposal “highlights the diversity of Atlanta’s neighborhoods, its status as a center of film production, its cultural centers, its event capabilities, its commitment to climate action, ease of transportation, the hospitality industry and an inclusive and equitable business environment.”

“In addition, the (request for proposals) shows how Sundance can take root and become part of the rich fabric of Atlanta culture,” the release said. “Finally, as part of overall support for Sundance, the City of Atlanta and its partners have pledged $2 million in support as well as a wide range of concessions and in-kind support to the festival.”

The press release does not identify what these concessions and additional in-kind support might entail.

The city said it worked with the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau and a community of leaders.
