The 1847 Cody Homestead is located at 28050 230th Ave. at Bluff Road in Scott County.

The boyhood home of Buffalo Bill Cody (1846-1917) — LeClaire-born government scout and Wild West showman — is located in the Wapsipinicon River Valley, a 20-minute drive from I-80. The 1847 farmhouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built by Isaac Cody, Buffalo Bill’s father, of native limestone and contains walnut floors and woodwork.

The farmhouse has been restored and furnished with typical objects from the mid-19th century. The Cody Homestead is nestled on a scenic hillside overlooking the rich Iowa prairie, where buffalo graze on the land surrounding the home, according to the county website.
