A British woman was gang raped in Paris on her way home from an annual music festival.

The unnamed woman was seen in the early hours of Saturday morning as she returned distressed from the Fête de la Musique festival in the French capital.

She was seen crying and carrying her underwear in her hand.

Rescue workers picked up the woman and took her to the hospital for medical examination.

She told police she was raped by several men and taken to a remote area where her mobile phone was stolen, French media reported.

Officials fear that the rapists may have recorded the attack on camera.

The Fête de la Musique – which means “Festival of Music” – is an annual festival on June 21st with hundreds of events across France.

On the same day, five young girls aged between 13 and 17 were the victims of an attack in a suburb in the southeast of Paris.

They reported a stabbing sensation in their arms and nausea while dancing at the concert in Val de Marne.

Police arrested two men at the scene, who were later released. The two incidents are believed to be unrelated.

Sylvain Berrios, a local mayor who also attended the festival, said these incidents were “an extremely painful phenomenon” but difficult to prevent.

Paris is currently in the focus of increased attention because of the Olympic Games, which will take place in the French capital from July 26 to August 11.
