“F*** the Jews” is written on the wall of a New York classroom as the DoE faces an anti-Semitism hearing

Hateful anti-Semitic graffiti written in blood-red ink was found on the wall of a Brooklyn elementary school.

The letter – reading “F–k the Jews. Free Palestine” – read on a white wall behind what looks like an outdoor chess table at PS 197 – The Kings Highway Academy in Midwood, according to a photo posted by local councilwoman Inna Vernikov on X-Wednesday.

“Speaking of anti-Semitism in schools, our office JUST received a complaint about this graffiti at PS197,” Vernikov wrote, referring to Schools Chancellor David Banks being criticized during a congressional hearing on Wednesday over his response to anti-Semitism in K-12. Banks delivered a defiant statement to a panel of 14 lawmakers, insisting his government was dealing with anti-Jewish hatred in an “appropriate manner.”

“I can’t claim to be able to prevent every incident, but…as soon as it is brought to our attention…we respond appropriately,” he said.

“Any form of hate has no place in our public schools. And New York City public schools have taken aggressive action to combat hate wherever it rears its ugly head.”

“I thank them for their quick response,” Vernikov wrote.

“Let’s hope this also leads to swift action and accountability for students and teachers who violate DOE policies and code of conduct.”

Since Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, anti-Semitic acts have been widespread throughout the city.

At Hillcrest, students went on a rampage — resulting in the Jewish teacher cowering in a locked office for hours. The Big Apple’s public school system has also been rocked by a citywide student strike demanding a ceasefire in Gaza and allegations of vile anti-Semitism at Origins High in Brooklyn, among other things at the school.
