Princess Anne hospitalized with minor injuries after “incident”

Princess Anne was hospitalized after sustaining injuries in an “incident” at her home, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday, June 24.

“The Princess Royal has suffered minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening,” the statement said. “Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation as a precautionary measure and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.”

Details of the incident were not initially released by the palace, but Sky News reported that “emergency services were called to the scene of the accident in the grounds of Gatcombe Park in Bristol on Sunday to treat injuries consistent with the possible consequences of a collision with a horse.”

Due to the incident, Anne’s trip to Canada later this week has been postponed, and she will not attend the banquet planned for Tuesday, June 25 to mark the Japanese state visit.
