Police investigate fatal rollover accident on Gessner near Tanner

According to Houston police, a truck was traveling at high speed on Gessner Street when the driver lost control of his vehicle, hit the median barrier and rolled over approximately four times.

HOUSTON – A man died and a woman was hospitalized Sunday night after a high-speed rollover crash in northwest Houston, according to Houston police.

This happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Gessner Road near Tanner Road.

Houston police said a truck was traveling north on Gessner Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of his vehicle, struck the median and rolled about four times. After the crash, the truck ended up in the southbound lanes.

The driver of the truck was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A woman in the passenger seat was trapped in the truck after the accident.

Houston firefighters freed her from the truck and she was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

The road was closed for several hours while the police investigated.
