All lanes of southbound I-225 were closed due to a three-vehicle crash at 17th Place.

AURORA, Colorado – All lanes of Interstate 225 are closed Monday morning due to an accident.

The Aurora Police Department (APD) said that at 6 a.m. all lanes of southbound I-225 were closed at 17th Place, just north of Colfax Avenue.

Traffic was diverted to the 17th Place exit, where drivers can immediately rejoin the interstate.

APD reported several injuries in this accident.

“We thank you for your patience as we investigate the incident and work to reopen the lanes as quickly and safely as possible,” APD said.

A video from SKY9 showed that after the accident, all southbound lanes of the highway were covered with debris.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we know more.
