British woman found gang raped on streets of Paris after music festival

A British woman was allegedly gang-raped and robbed in Paris after attending a music festival there.

According to French media, the tourist was found crying on the side of the road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She had left a concert at the Olympiahalle to take part in the nationwide celebrations for “Fête de la Musique” – “Make Music Day”.

According to Le Figaro, the victim was attacked by several men and dragged to a remote area where she was raped and her phone was stolen.

Investigators from the 1st Paris Criminal Police District began the investigation while the woman was in hospital for examinations.

The rape allegation comes after five teenagers were injected with a mysterious substance while attending another event in the Paris suburb of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés.

The girls, aged 13 to 17, told festival staff that they were dancing in the crowd when they felt stinging pains in their arms.

Each of them quickly developed symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headaches and fever, witnesses on site told Le Parisien.

Three of the girls reportedly had marks on their left arms that suggested they had been pierced with a needle. No arrests were made.

The mayor of Saint-Maur, Sylvain Berrios, who also attended the festival, told Le Parisien that such incidents were “an extremely painful phenomenon” that was “difficult to stop”.

On France’s Make Music Day, musicians and artists from around the world perform at hundreds of concerts and events across the country.
