Home damaged by fire overnight in southeast Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A fire ravaged a home in southeast Atlanta overnight.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of Woodward Avenue. Firefighters at the scene said when they arrived there were heavy flames on the right side of the house.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and said they believed it started outside the home. The exterior of the house next door also suffered minor damage.

Two people were in the house at the time of the fire and both escaped unharmed. No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is helping the family.

Investigators are looking into the cause.
