Three dead and dozens injured in Ukrainian missile attack on Sevastopol

A rocket attack on Sevastopol on Sunday killed three people, including two children, and injured nearly 100 others. The city’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, reported that the city’s health system had been fully mobilized in response to the incident.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the attack occurred at about 12:15 local time and used US-made ATACMS tactical missiles equipped with cluster warheads. The ministry claims four of the missiles were intercepted, while a fifth was diverted from its trajectory by air defense systems, causing its warhead to detonate in the air over the city.

President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, said Governor Razvozhayev. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin was in close contact with government officials and health care providers following the attack. Peskov also stressed that the president’s top priority was to ensure that the victims received all the necessary assistance.
