Minor girl abducted and gang-raped on Eid day in Baramulla Kashmir

A minor girl is said to have been gang raped after being abducted from Baramulla district in northern Kashmir.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a minor girl left home on Wednesday for Pattan railway station but did not return home, causing panic among the family members.

They said the family members tried everywhere to find the minor girl but to no avail. “The family later filed a complaint stating that unknown persons had kidnapped their daughter from the railway station,” they said.

Subsequently, the Jammu and Kashmir Police filed an FIR, a copy of which is available at The Kashmiriyat.

The FIR filed under Section 363 (kidnapping) states that the minor girl’s father came to the police station and stated that his daughter was kidnapped on June 19, 2024.

The case has been filed under number 219 of 2014 and has been handed over to an SI-rank police officer, “who will be sent along with a superintendent of police and other personnel for further investigation.” The detailed information will be submitted to an additional officer, the FIR said.

Jammu and Kashmir Police soon swung into action and rescued the minor girl from Pattan Baramulla, who was rescued by a police team.

“She was kidnapped and raped by three persons in Srinagar in a rented accommodation in central Kashmir district, after which three persons were arrested,” said the police station’s house officer The Kashmiriyat.
