Ernakulam: In a tragic road accident near North Paravur, a woman and her son lost their lives while returning from visiting relatives. The deceased were identified as Bindu (44) and son Alwin (12) of Thekkeveettil in Kudungassery. Bindu’s husband Claison was also travelling with them on a scooter which met with an accident.

Claison sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. The incident took place around 8 pm on Sunday when the scooter reportedly went out of control due to heavy rain and skidded on the road. The 12-year-old boy who died in the accident was a seventh-grader of KPM High School in Edavanakad.

According to the official website of Kerala Police, road accident statistics in Kerala are alarming. Till April this year, around 17,409 accidents have been registered in which around 1,393 people have lost their lives.
