Thirty-nine years have passed since one of the most heinous terrorist air disasters in the history of civil aviation. Air India flight Kanishka 182 between Montreal and New Delhi exploded in 1985 with 329 passengers on board. On the 39th anniversary of the tragic incident, EAM Jaishankar paid tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack. Amid the diplomatic row between India and Canada, he stressed that this anniversary is a reminder why terrorism should never be tolerated. The Indian Consulate General in Toronto also announced that it would organize a memorial service for the victims of the incident. According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the investigation is the “longest and one of the most complex investigations into domestic terrorism”.
