Ondo APC lifts suspension of members involved in anti-party activities and others

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has announced that the suspension of party members involved in suspected anti-party activities has been lifted.

The party’s state chairman, Ade Adetimehin, announced that the lifting of the suspension was effective immediately, but explained that the move was taken to ensure that the party was indivisible and united ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

Adetimehin, who made the announcement at the weekend in Akure, the state capital, called on the affected party members to refrain from anti-party activities and to unite with the party in preparation for the election.

It will be recalled that some disgruntled party candidates who protested against the April 20 gubernatorial primary election in which Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was elected as the party’s leading candidate were suspended from their respective constituencies.

In addition, no fewer than 61 party members in Akoko South West and Akoko South East Local Council Areas of the state were suspended from the party last year for allegedly being responsible for the party’s dismal performance in the 2023 general elections.

The party chairman assured the people of the state that the APC government was always ready to tackle the challenges facing the state and the country as a whole, describing the recent reconciliation between Aiyedatiwa and Olusola Oke (SAN) as one of the greatest achievements in the party’s political history.

Adetimehin, who praised Oke for his maturity, stressed that the former APC candidate’s actions signalled his sincere love for the party, especially his determination to dismantle his political structures for the good of the party.

The party chairman, however, assured Oke’s supporters of unbiased treatment, saying they were all members of the APC.

He also urged other disgruntled party members and candidates to emulate Oke by putting the party above their own interests, saying such a move would consolidate and unite the party.
