Fatal shark attack in Kahuku claims life of city lifeguard

HONOLULU (KHON2) – KHON2 is en route to Laie to deliver a report on an alleged fatal shark attack.

Honolulu Police reported an unattended death in Laie shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday.

A spokesman for the emergency services said:

“Honolulu Ocean Safety, Honolulu Fire Department, Honolulu Police Department and Honolulu Emergency Medical Services arrived in the Kahuku area shortly before 1:00 p.m. to find a body. A 911 caller advised dispatchers that the man’s body appeared to have sustained more than one shark bite. Lifeguards brought the man’s body to shore via jet ski. On shore, emergency medical technicians assisted in determining death.”
