2 dogs killed in house fire in Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kansas (KSNW) – Two dogs were killed in a house fire in Hutchinson Sunday afternoon.

According to the Hutchinson Fire Department, emergency crews were dispatched to a fire in the 6820 block of N. Tobacco Road at 12:55 p.m.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a one-story house with fire and smoke rising from the roof.

“Crews aggressively penetrated the interior of the fire and began searching an addition in the attic above while also checking for possible victims,” ​​the HFD said.

According to HFD, the residents of the house were not there at the time of the fire. However, their three dogs were there. Two of them died in the fire.

Since the house is located in a rural area, several mutual aid partners came to the HFD’s aid.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The extent of the damage has not been disclosed.
