WCSO: Man arrested for driving a stolen vehicle

LYFORD, Texas (ValleyCentral) – Willacy County officials have arrested a man accused of stealing a car from a residence.

Johnny Anthony Flores, 46, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to a news release from the Willacy County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, officers received a report of the theft of a silver 2003 Ford Taurus from a residence on Dario Street.

While patrolling the area, officers stopped a vehicle matching the description and license plates traveling south on Business 77.

The Willacy County Sheriff’s Office Telecommunications Division confirmed to authorities that this was the stolen vehicle.

The driver was later identified as Flores and taken to the Willacy County Sheriff’s Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation.
