Police reports 06/23/24: Salamanca man charged after chase | Allegany County

SALAMANCA – A Salamanca man was arrested after leading police officers on a chase in a suspected stolen vehicle, Salamanca police reported Sunday.

Jared C. Jacobs, 32, was charged Saturday with first-degree reckless endangerment (a Class D felony); fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unlawful fleeing from police in a motor vehicle (Class A misdemeanor); third-degree driving without a license and reckless driving (unclassified misdemeanors); failure to stop at a stop sign, unsafe turning, unreasonable speed, failure to maintain the right lane and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage (misdemeanors).

According to police, officers had responded to a report of a stolen vehicle earlier Saturday. Officers later spotted the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop, but Jacobs allegedly refused to yield and officers then began a pursuit.

Jacobs was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail and held pending the outcome of court proceedings.

Olean Police

  • Friday, 16:49No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash on Delaware Avenue near North Union Street. A vehicle driven by Jill D. Hill, 76, of Seneca Avenue was pulling out of a parking lot when it reportedly collided with a vehicle driven by Christine M. Crawford, 75, of Windfall Road. Hill was subsequently cited for failure to obey a traffic control system, which is a misdemeanor.
  • Friday, 10:08 amStephen H. Frank IV, 32, of 911 Buffalo St., was charged with resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor, and third-degree trespassing, a class B misdemeanor. Frank was released with a summons.
  • Saturday, 05:22 amLouis M. Serrano, 33, of Salamanca, was charged with second-degree menacing, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, resisting governmental authority, both class A misdemeanors, second-degree disturbing the peace and second-degree harassment. Serrano was released with a summons.
  • Saturday, 11:15 a.m.Dylon E. Howard, 30, no fixed address, was charged with petty theft, a Class A misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident reported at Ried’s Food Barn. Howard’s status was not reported.
  • Saturday, 5:23 p.m.Derrell Washington, 31, no permanent address, was arrested on an Olean Municipal Court warrant in connection with the charge of second-degree criminal impersonation, a Class A misdemeanor. Washington was turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office on additional warrants.
  • Saturday, 20:01Larnell D. Graham, 27, of 120 E. Greene St., was charged with third-degree driving without a license, an unclassified misdemeanor; driving while out of class and failure to obey a stop sign, violations. Graham is due back in court at a later date.

Salamanca Police

  • Tuesday, 04:03 amAbraham B. Wilson, 21, of Salamanca, was charged with fourth-degree criminal damage to property, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation. Wilson was released with a summons.
  • Wednesday, 02:57 amJames L. Estabrooks, 30, of Salamanca, was charged with third-degree driving without a license and reckless driving, unclassified misdemeanors; second-degree reckless endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor; and second-degree harassment, a violation. Estabrooks was held pending arraignment.
  • Wednesday, 17:26Bradley P. Stahlman Sr., 53, of Salamanca, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Cattaraugus County District Court. Stahlman was turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Friday, 9.34 p.m.Antonio W. Downey, 25, of Salamanca, was charged with second-degree driving without a license, an unclassified misdemeanor. Downey was released with a summons.
  • Saturday, 00:25Terry L. Nichols Jr., 41, of Salamanca, was charged with assault on a police officer, a class C felony, fourth-degree criminal damage to property and resisting government authority, a class A misdemeanor. Nichols was held pending arraignment.
  • Saturday, 01:13 amJudge L. Crouse, 29, of Salamanca, was charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration (a Class A misdemeanor) and disorderly conduct (a violation). Crouse was held pending arraignment.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office

  • GREAT VALLEY — Jordan E. Garden, 20, of Salamanca, was charged at 11 a.m. June 16 with criminal obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child (class A misdemeanors) and second-degree harassment (violation). The charges stem from a reported domestic incident. Garden was released with a summons.
  • ASHFORD — Dustin C. Smith, 41, of Buffalo, was charged at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday with third-degree drunken driving and driving without a license (unclassified misdemeanors); driving without an ignition interlock and two counts of seventh-degree (Class A) illegal possession of a controlled substance and equipment violation (a misdemeanor). Smith was released with a summons.
  • ALLEGANIE — Tanya Graves, 35, of Bradford, Pennsylvania, was arrested at 12:33 a.m. Thursday on a Family Court warrant. Graves was booked into the Cattaraugus County Jail.
  • SMALL VALLEY — Donte Weakfall-Wright, 19, currently incarcerated in the Cattaraugus County Jail, was charged at 8 a.m. Friday with second-degree assault, a class D felony. According to officials, Weakfall-Wright was visiting while in custody when he allegedly attacked a female victim.
  • MACHIAS — Michael P. Hecht, 42, of East Concord, was arrested at 8 a.m. Friday on a warrant issued by the Cattaraugus County Court. Hecht was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail and held pending further court proceedings.
  • YORKSHIRE — Timothy E. Prouty, 30, of West Valley, was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Friday on two warrants issued by the Cattaraugus County Court. Prouty was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail and held pending further court proceedings.
  • GREAT VALLEY — Ramsey Nelson, 26, of Great Valley, was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08% or more (unclassified misdemeanors) and speeding (misdemeanor) at 8:07 p.m. Friday. The charges stem from a traffic stop on Route 219. Nelson was released with a summons.
  • OLEAN — Derrell Washington, 32, of 113 S. Sixth St., Olean, was arrested at 7 p.m. Saturday on a warrant issued by the Cattaraugus District Court. Washington was taken into custody and held pending further court proceedings.

New York State Police

  • DELIVERY — Renee C. Gardon, 48, of Delevan, was charged at 7:15 a.m. Friday with second-degree obstruction of public administration and resisting government authority, both Class A misdemeanors. Gardon was released with a summons.
  • BELMONT — Todd E. Varney, 40, of Independence, was charged at 7:44 a.m. Friday with third-degree driving without a license, driving under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .08% or more, unclassified misdemeanors. Varney was released to third-party custody.
  • PORTVILLE — An 18-year-old Portville resident was charged with third-degree criminal damage, a class E felony, and fourth-degree criminal damage, a class A misdemeanor, at 1:15 p.m. Friday. The suspect was reportedly arrested.
  • RUSHFORD — Donald J. Potts, 25, of Belmont, was charged at 1:52 p.m. Friday with second-degree assault, a class D felony, petit larceny and resisting government authority, class A misdemeanors. Potts’ status has not been released.
  • WELLSVILLE — Trever Willard, 22, of Wellsville, was charged at 3:18 p.m. Friday with promise to engage in obscene sexual conduct with a child (a class D felony) and possession of obscene sexual conduct with a child (a class E felony). The charges stem from an incident reported on April 7, 2021. Willard was reportedly arrested.
  • OLEAN — Anthony J. Sherlock, 34, of Olean, was charged at 3:50 p.m. Friday with second-degree grand larceny, a Class C felony; third-degree grand larceny and five counts of second-degree forgery and second-degree possession of a forged document, Class D felonies; first-degree attempted fraud and four counts of first-degree falsifying business records, Class E felonies; and making a false written statement, a Class A misdemeanor. The charges stem from an incident reported on June 28, 2022. Sherlock was reportedly arrested.
