Suspect charged in fatal shooting of three family members in Houston | Upper Gulf Coast

Houston, TX – A 27-year-old man has been charged with capital murder following the fatal shooting of three members of his family at an apartment complex on Hammerly Boulevard.

Bryan J. Fernandez Hernandez, 27, is accused of murdering two women, ages 65 and 43, and a 38-year-old man Saturday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD). The identities of the victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Barton and K. Amri reported that officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a home invasion in progress at 10580 Hammerly Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Fernandez Hernández, who claimed to have shot three burglars in his apartment.

However, further investigation revealed that there had been no home invasion. Instead, Fernandez Hernández allegedly shot three members of his family inside the apartment and then called 9-1-1. The eldest woman in the family was found to be living in the apartment, while the other two family members had been staying there for several days.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Fernandez Hernandez was subsequently charged with capital murder for his role in the shooting.
