Suspected hunter caught in police net for alleged rape in Osun

From The Old Town, Osogbo

A man claiming to be a local hunter, Ogunbunmi Jelili, was arrested by the Osun State Police on suspicion of raping a woman at gunpoint.

The suspect is said to have attacked the woman and her boyfriend at Poyika Adewumi Via Olode village in Ife South Local Government Area and threatened to kill them.

While Daniel ran away, the suspect allegedly dragged the woman into the bush and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

The 18-year-old victim is said to have gone out with her boyfriend (nicknamed Daniel) to buy a soft drink around 8 p.m. when the incident occurred.

Osun Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident to Daily Sun on Sunday.

She said the suspect was arrested with a Dane gun and his case was referred to the Criminal Investigation Department.
