Levi Wright’s mother gives heartfelt “parenting advice” and thanks her late son

A month after her son Levi Wright was injured and died in an accident, Kallie Wright shares her thoughts with other parents.

Levi, the 3-year-old son of Kallie and rodeo star Spencer Wright, died on June 2 after being taken off life support. He had been hospitalized in critical condition weeks earlier on May 21 after driving his toy tractor into a Utah river.

Kallie – who is also mother to daughters Steeley and Brae Milo – began her message, which she shared in a Facebook post on June 21, by saying: “One month ago, one month ago our lives changed forever!”

She wrote that she had “a lot more to say” but, at least for now, wanted to share some “parenting advice/thoughts from someone who has really been thinking about these things lately!”

Her first message to others was, “Don’t just go to fun things with your kids, do those fun things WITH them! Go to the pool, swing, slide, run through the sprinkler, sledding down the hill, etc. You get the idea!”

“Think back to your childhood,” she continued. “What do you remember more, your material gifts or your memories and experiences? I feel like we did a really good job with our children, and I’m prouder of that now than ever.”

Kallie’s second piece of advice was to get professional family photos taken more often. “Kids grow way too fast and things are constantly changing,” she wrote. “I wanted to wait until I lost the baby weight and this and that and now the only really good pictures I have are from Brae’s newborn shoot and his dad couldn’t be there. I wish I had taken some this spring.”

Next she wrote: “Everything, and I mean everything, is repairable and replaceable. So don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.”

“I have a sofa cushion on my couch that has little cuts in it that you can see when Levi gets a pair of scissors in his hand, and I have little Easter bunny stamps on my wall in the playroom,” she continued. “I realize now that I definitely overreacted and I could have talked to him about it without being angry and frustrated.”

“Seriously, kids do this stuff and it doesn’t matter,” she added. “Yes, they need to learn it, but we don’t need to let it bother us so much or make it a bigger deal than it is, because in the grand scheme of things, it’s not a big deal.”

And finally, Kallie shared something she “used to hate” – until she realized “how true it is.” “Laundry, dishes, house cleaning – it can all wait,” she wrote. “Find a balance!”

“I’m still working on that,” she added, before ending her post with a sweet message for her late toddler.

“Thank you for being my adventure buddy Levi and for teaching me so much!” she wrote. “I miss and love you!”

A few days after Levi’s death on June 6, Kallie shared a post about the day he suffered life-threatening injuries while riding his toy tractor – which, according to his obituary, was “the thing he loved most.”

“He asked me to ride on his tractor and I explained that Grandma wasn’t home and that he shouldn’t drive through the creek or the road, just around the house. When he drove off, I ran back into the house,” wrote the mother of three. “This is a decision that will haunt me for the rest of my life.”

Kallie also wrote that she will “never have sleepless nights over this,” but added that she “knows three things that are true.”

“1. I’m not a perfect mother, but I’m a good mother,” she said. “2. My little boy loved me with everything he had. 3. Never say never, because it only takes seconds and it can happen to you too.”

“I pray that no one who judges me or has hurtful words to say will ever fall victim to such a nightmare,” she added.
