Zhu was arrested at his residence in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque, based on an arrest warrant issued by the Public Security Bureau of Cangwu District, Guangxi, China. Zhu is allegedly the operator of a syndicate that has been running an online gambling site since 2016. His site has allegedly amassed 30 billion Chinese yuan, or about US$4.1 billion.

Wang, however, has an arrest warrant issued by the Jinjiang City Public Security Bureau in connection with a kidnapping case. He was arrested in Metrobank Avenue in Pasay City.

The two fugitives from Chinese justice also stayed in the Philippines for too long after hiding in the country for several years. China has also declared their passports invalid.
