Lower Decks is not dead yet

Summary

  • Star Trek: Lower Decks may not be dead yet, and despite the planned ending, there is hope to continue the crew’s adventures.
  • A possible sequel with a new name like “Star Trek: Middle Decks” could keep the spirit of “Lower Decks” alive with a fresh start.
  • Despite the challenges of streaming, a TNG-era animated series could offer a new perspective on beloved Star Trek characters.

I find Star Trek: Lower Decks is not quite dead yet. The announcement of the End of Star Trek: Lower Decks came earlier this year, along with the renewal of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for Season 4. It makes sense for Star Trek: Lower Decks to reach a natural end, given the concept of Lower decks The focus was on the junior officers of the USS Cerritos. At the official Star Trek Instagram account however a statement from series creator Mike McMahan and Star Trek Showrunner Alex Kurtzman said Lower decks The end was unplannedand say they “Stay hopeful…that the entire Cerritos crew will live on with new adventures.”

It is normal for the creators to offer a glimmer of hope after the end of a popular series – after all, who doesn’t want their series to continue? – and there is an additional glimmer of hope because Star Trek has a long history of returning from the dead. Letter campaigns saved Star Trek: The Original Series not just once, but twice, Terms of Use his 3 seasons are running. Star Trek: The Animated Series and in the subsequent feature films, the original crew of the USS Enterprise was brought back to life. Star Trek: The Next Generation proved that a spin-off could work, and TNGThe cast was reunited in Star Trek: The Next Generation. But for new starTrek shows.

Despite its impending demise, the path Star Trek: Lower Decks alive is with a not so secret sequel that continues the story under a new name: Star Trek: Middle Decks or Star Trek: The Next Generation, For example, the general unsustainability of the streaming model means that the emphasis is on creating exciting new content to gain subscribers, while perfectly good shows are canceled prematurely. The secret lies in the treatment of a Star Trek: Lower Decks Continuation like a “new show” which gives the streamer a shiny new title, and creates a new point of contact for curious fans and at the same time picks up where Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 ended. Unlikely? Sure. But not impossible.

Remember: the premise of Star Trek: Lower Decks has a relatively limited lifespan because a series about junior officers of Starfleet has at best a few years before Lower decks‘ Main characters are thrown off track. It is possible to “new class”with our current favorites in mentoring roles, the point is that we have already invested in Star Trek: Lower Decks’ characters. We want to see how Lieutenants Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), D’Vana Tendi (Noël Wells) and Samanthan Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) grow into the people they will become. Why not just renew Star Trek: Lower Decks with a new name?

Star Trek needs a show from the TNG era

Animation keeps Trek relevant in the 24th century

With Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in the 23rd century and the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy set in the 32nd century, Star Trek will not have a show that takes place in the Star Trek: The Next Generation epoch. Star Trek: The Next Generation came to its planned end, and the future does not look rosy for Star Trek: Legacy, so after Star Trek: Lower Decks And Star Trek: Prodigy End in 2024, the door closes to the 24th century Star Trek for the foreseeable future. This seems strange when TNG, DS9, And Traveller are the best known versions of Star Trek for a sizeable fan base.

With a possible continuation of Star Trek: Lower Decks, this door remains open. TNG-Epoch Star Trek Actors can credibly portray their roles in animations, which are relatively inexpensive to produce compared to live-action films. Star TrekSince nothing has been announced, we probably won’t see any Star Trek: Lower Decks Sequel series in the near future, but it is suspicious that there are no known plans for further stories in what is probably Star TrekThe most popular era. Ultimately, I hope we get to see more stories about the crew of the USS Cerritos once Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 is over – with or without Star Trek: Lower Decks is surprisingly renamed.
