Teenager arrested after violent riots in Phoenix Park

A teenager was arrested by Garda officers last week while investigating violent disturbances in Phoenix Park.

The man, in his late teens, will appear in court on Monday.

On Monday 17 June, at around 11.30pm, Gardaí received an anonymous call regarding an incident in Phoenix Park and attended the scene.

The area was searched, but no one came forward to the Gardaí.

After further investigation, the Gardaí identified a suspect.

The man was arrested on suspicion of committing an offence under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act 1997 and detained at a Garda station in north Dublin.

He has been charged and will appear in criminal court on Monday morning.

Gardaí said investigations were ongoing.

A Garda spokesman said in a statement that every crime and incident motivated by hate is taken seriously and reported incidents are investigated professionally.

Gardaí appealed to anyone with direct knowledge of or who may have been a victim of such an incident in the area to contact either Cabra Garda Station on 01-666 7400, the Garda National Community Engagement Bureau Diversity Unit on 01-666 3150 or through any advocacy group.

Following news of this alleged incident, the Gardaí stated that they had contacted LGBTQIA+ advocacy groups.
