Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio killed in Tampa, lawyer says

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a hotel on East Fowler Avenue, Tampa police said.

TAMPA, Florida – Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio was shot and killed in a Tampa hotel, according to his attorney.

Jacksonville-based attorney Lewis Fusco confirmed Sunday that his client, Charles Andrew Jones II, 26, was killed early Sunday morning.

Tampa police said they received a 911 call about a shooting at 11606 McKinley Drive around 4:40 a.m.

“The victim of this morning’s shooting is believed to be Charles Jones (date of birth: June 21, 1998). Positive identification is pending medical confirmation by the medical examiner,” the agency said in a statement.

A press release said officers observed two vehicles being shot at in the parking lot of a hotel. Four people were injured in the shooting, police said, and one person was dead. Three other victims were treated at a local hospital.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. They are looking into what led to the shooting and are working to identify those involved.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 813-231-6130 or submit a tip via Tip411 through the TampaPD app.

Social media posts from Jones’ account show a pool party at an Airbnb. Other images posted by Jones show advertising a birthday party at Teasers, a gentlemen’s club in Tampa.

Jones was arrested on April 8, 2023, and charged with unlawful flight following a traffic stop on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Jacksonville police said. He was released on $10,000 bail.

He also made headlines in November 2021 after he was grazed by a gunman’s bullet in Jacksonville’s Riverside neighborhood, where he said he was in a recording studio. Foolio later taunted his attackers on Instagram, saying, “You literally miss 100 shots.”
