Staying warm in Houston with triple-digit temperatures Sunday with isolated showers

Sunday will be hot and muggy, with temperatures reaching 106°. We are looking at the possibility of a few isolated showers developing late this afternoon and evening.

If you think it’s going to be hot this weekend, it’s only going to get worse, with temperatures expected to reach 109 degrees on Wednesday. Drink plenty of water and make it a habit to always have a bottle of water with you.

Tracking the tropics:

There is a 40% chance of another tropical depression developing in the Bay of Campeche, similar to the location formed by Alberto.

40% chance of development in the southern Gulf.

We will follow this one through the weekend, however, with the strong pressure centered over the southeastern United States, it will also head, whatever form the storm takes, towards Mexico, far away from the Texas coast.

High pressure will keep the deepest tropical moisture away from Southeast Texas this weekend into next week.

Rain chances remain minimal this week, but temperatures will continue to climb into the upper 90s this week.
