Navi Mumbai police inspector rapes married policewoman for two years, investigation underway

The investigation revealed that the accused had developed a close friendship with the 26-year-old policewoman. Both of them were working in the Mumbai police force. After some time, the accused promised the policewoman to marry her and later allegedly raped her several times in a flat in Sanpada.

Mumbai: A 32-year-old police inspector has been booked for allegedly raping a married policewoman in Navi Mumbai district of Maharashtra. An official said the crime was committed in the Sanpada area between 2020 and 2022, a PTI report said.

The investigation revealed that the accused had developed a close friendship with the 26-year-old policewoman. Both of them were working in the Mumbai police force. After some time, the accused promised the policewoman to marry her and later allegedly raped her several times in a flat in Sanpada.

Police said that the accused took Rs 1.9 million from the woman on some pretext and returned only Rs 1.461 million. Police added that he started stalking the woman and asked her to leave her husband. And if she did not leave her husband, he threatened to kill her.
