HD Revanna alleges ‘conspiracy’ behind sexual abuse allegations against MLC’s son Suraj

Suraj Revanna, the brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of sexually abusing several women, was arrested earlier in the day in Hassan on charges of “unnatural offences”, police sources said.

On Saturday, he was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a party worker a few days ago and under various sections of the IPC, including “unnatural offences”. “I will not react to anything. Addressing reporters, he said, “I will not react to anything. I trust in God and judiciary. I am not afraid of such conspiracies. I know what it is, time will tell.” Asked who hatched the conspiracy, Revanna said, “I don’t know, you (media) have to say – who, what. I leave it to you… You will deal with it, judiciary is there. Suraj has gone (to the police), everyone knows what has happened in the last few days.” On Suraj’s complaint, he said, “I don’t know what it is. Time will come and when the time comes, I will tell everything.” Suraj Revanna (37), the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has categorically denied the allegation. Suraj had also alleged that the man had filed a false complaint against him to extort Rs 5 crore from him.

On Friday, police registered an extortion case against the JD(S) worker based on a complaint filed by Suraj Revanna’s close aide Shivakumar.

Union Minister and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy declined to comment on his nephew Suraj’s case, saying he had nothing to do with it and that justice would take its course.

“Why are you asking me about this matter? It does not concern me. There is no need to react to all these things. The law will take its course… What do I have to do with this (case)?” he said.

Asking reporters not to discuss the matter with him, Kumaraswamy said, “Discuss with me the issues concerning the state. Why are you discussing with me, what is the need? Laws will take their course…why such cases, we will know in the next few days.” Suraj’s brother and former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna is in police custody for allegedly sexually harassing several women. He was arrested last month after returning from Germany.

Prajwal, who lost his Hassan seat in the Lok Sabha, was arrested on May 31, shortly after his return from Germany, where he had been hidden after charges of rape and intimidation were leveled against him.
