Money line

New York has failed in 3 consecutive playoff finals.

The mound matchup between the ports is quality, but represents an advantage on what will be another hot day in the Bronx. Fried is more adept at recovering ground balls, while Cortes produces a lot of aerial action.

Cortes throwing 105 shots in his last game isn’t ideal; he didn’t fare very well on previous subsequent takedowns after higher counts. It is supported by the lesser of the two enclosures. Fried is an excellent road pitcher and is more likely to take the game to the 7th inning or beyond.

The marker here should slow down our progress a little, however. FanDuel Sportsbook offers the BRAVE (-112). At that price, Atlanta is worth a partial unit game.

Running Line/Against the Spread

It’s worth keeping an eye on if things start to lean more towards the nine at home. Atlanta minus a cushion at +150 for a return would be enticing. PASS Otherwise.

More less

The Yankees pitchers have had a rough time this week, and the Over is 6-1 in New York’s last 7 games. Even with the solid pitching matchup in this late series, the Over is thin. But with the line change from 8.5 to 9 it is better to PASS.
